The Female Lead in association with Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time is empowering young women across the world by proving that gender does not impose a limit.

The Female Lead is a celebration of women’s achievement, endeavour and diversity and shows how women can and have shaped the world. Created by British data science entrepreneur Edwina Dunn, the book has been placed in 4000 schools around the UK and reached over half a million young people so far.

The Female Lead features photographs and interviews with 60 inspirational women from all walks of life including: Meryl Streep, Christine Lagarde, Yeonmi Park, Karlie Kloss, Jo Malone, Lucy Bronze and Ava DuVernay.

The latter, Ava DuVernay, is the first African-American to direct a film with a budget over $100 million. Her new film, A Wrinkle In Time, is in association with The Female Lead.  Starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and Storm Reid, the film has its European Premiere in London where the actors will be joining director Ava DuVernay and founder of The Female Lead on-stage for a Q&A.

With the aim of getting the non-profit book and teaching aids in as many schools as possible, The Female Lead is already starting new conversations in the classroom and providing a broader spectrum of female role models for all genders.

Carver PR are delighted to be working with Edwina Dunn on such a ground breaking and important project.
