AUTHOR OF THE BEST-SELLING POETRY DEBUT OF 2018, CHARLY COX HAS FAST BECOME THE VOICE OF YOUNG WOMEN EVERYWHERE.
In 2017, Charly first shared her poetry with the world on Instagram. Fast forward a year later and her first book She Must Be Mad was released by HQ to huge acclaim. Charly was named by ELLE magazine as one of their power players to watch out for in 2018, and her poetry was described as ‘brave and beautiful’ by Stylist magazine.
Charly’s writing focuses on challenging the stigma around mental health and talks honestly and openly about the experiences of a young woman coming-of-age. She wrote a number of the pieces as early as the age of 16 and others in her early twenties. Her words appear almost as ‘social commentary’ – exploring first loves, mental health, body image and growing up, all wrapped up in the form of poetry and prose.
On October 3rd, Charly’s second book, Validate Me, is set to be released by HQ. The book was written entirely on her phone and looks at the online world and how it can impact our relationships, mental health and reality in the offline world.
Charly has hosted poetry nights, performed at festivals such as Wilderness and was asked to be Virgin Radio’s poet in residence.
She has previously spoken openly about her own experiences with mental health and, in March 2018, she became an Ambassador for MQ Mental Health charity which helps fund research into mental illness.
Deep, witty and absolutely beautiful – we are in love with Charly’s work and couldn’t be more excited to be working with such a talented poet.
